Letter from Father Daly for the Reunion 2000 of Mt. Carmel Class of 1950

To the Members of the Class of 1950:

I was honored and pleased by Tom Baumgartner's suggestion that I write a few words of greeting. It has been many years since we have seen each other, but time cannot sever the bond that was created during the years we were all together at Carmel. I have been reading once again the yearbooks for 1949 and 1950, and discovered faces and names that are still familiar.

As for a message, I am going to cheat a little. My mind is too old and tired to produce anything new, so I am going to paraphrase the message I wrote to the Class of 1949. I think the words and the sentiments are still valid.

You all realize that on graduation night you did not break your ties with Mt. Carmel High. As alumni, you have always had a special place in the hearts and minds of your priests-teachers. May we hope that you will not forget us.

I repeat today the prayer with which we sent you forth into the world so many years ago. We entreat Our Lady of Mount Carmel:

      "To the children of Carmel
      Favors grant ever,
      O Star of the Sea"
I once again place all the members of your Class, Living and dead, as well as your loved ones, in the hands of our loving Father. May we meet someday in his heavenly Home.

      Albert W. Daly, O. Carm.
